Teacher Training
An important determining factor in the success of any educational curriculum is the teacher’s ability to understand the concepts and to create a compelling context for learning.
As schools begin to include financial literacy education into their classroom offerings, teachers are struggling to understand the content they are charged with delivering.
Kids Cash Course addresses this with our 3 hour online training which provides an opportunity for teachers to expand the skills they bring to the classroom. Our methodology can be used in a variety of content areas and provides a background for encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning—which in turn provides an opening for teachers to develop effective working groups in the classroom.
Inquiry-based and problem/project-based methods of exploring a content area are increasingly being introduced into classrooms—and our training is a powerful introduction to what’s possible in bringing these innovations and experiments into your current educational structure. Much of the present methodologies began in medical schools and science education—but they are now being extended into all kinds of venues and used for many other kinds of inquiry (e.g., literature and history). Our Curriculum provides guidance to teachers in developing themselves in engaging children in inquiry, reflection and attending to the process of their own learning.
In the area of our relationships to money and the financial world we live in, we provide an opportunity for teachers to be challenged by the same kinds of inquiry as our education provides for kids. This is a truly eye-opening experience for adults—and an adventure in noticing, exploring, reflecting and stretching the boundaries of what we think we know.
