Why it works

Kids Cash Course provides a framework of concepts and principles in which the kids wonder and explore—but the education is never abstract. We make sure it gets real for the kids, and they see how the material relates to them and to their lives.

Money exists so we can trade things of value, or in other words, we can “conduct business.” Then it makes sense that creating a business project is a perfect lesson in how money works. In the business curriculum, students face real-world consequences of their strategies and choices. It’s Real Life, Real Money. In all aspects of the curriculum, the content is embedded in activities that are fun but also challenge the individual and team to relate what they know to new information and insights.

Basically, the reason our methodology works is that our commentary and questions point out natural processes and spark inquiry. In this way the responsibility for learning and action is up to the kids and the team they build together. We encourage problem solving, team work integrity by having the students work with their team, and the curriculum leader coaches people in expanding their level of ability and skill by challenging them to reach beyond what they already know.
